Any Ideas please share 3yo dilemma Empty
PostSubject: Any Ideas please share 3yo dilemma   Any Ideas please share 3yo dilemma Icon_minitimeTue Jun 10, 2008 10:43 pm

For the last 2 weeks my 3yo (just 3 may 19th) has stopped sleeping very well, she usually had a nap around noon for about an hour and a half then in bed by 7pm and would sleep until at least 7am without waking in the night. Now she wont take a nap no matter what I try and I have been lucky to get her asleep by 8pm when she goes to bed at 7 and then she not only has been waking in the night she starting getting up at 7 then 630 now its 6am and many night waking   . She just had her 3yo check up about 2 weeks ago and they didn't see anything wrong with her and nothing else has changed. She has also not been eating well and I know that probably has something to do with the night waking up she is probably getting hungry but I just cant figure out why she changed or what I need to do to get her back on her schedule and I wouldn't even mind her not napping but then she is a handful the rest of the day, so needless to say it hasn't been real fun in my house lately and with no nap I cant even take her to the store or out in general she is just to hard to handle. I also work at home so as you can imagine my schedule works around her sleeping and I just don't know any more when its safe to schedule hours

Any ideas out there anything at all I would be very grateful

it sounds like you really have your hands full!!!

I'm sorry you are having a tough time of it...i know how it can be.

Hang in there and be patient...is all i can say.
It's tough growing up and learning so many new things and trying to figure out your place in the world.

I think sometimes kids just get overwhelmed and act out..... and it will pass....hopefully

Sorry I don't have any advice.

I know how you feel. I went through a similar situation with my daughter last year she was 3 at the time...she's now 4. She would never sleep always waking up during the night...very activer during the day (due to lack of sleep). I was at my wits end. I had received so much advice from so many people, from "she needs more discipline" to "maybe she had ADD". I knew the\at it had to be something else. I read an article about children and sleep apnea usually due to allergies or something blocking their breathing.

I took my daughter to a specialist (ENT doctor) and we were told that her adenoids were blocking 75% of her nasal pasages. She had to have surgery. She had them shaved down (not removed) and the doctor on a hunch administered an allergy test during her surgery. We found out that my daughter has horrible allergies ( animals, dust, trees, grasses....) but she never had the typical symptoms. Her symptom was that her nasal passages would swell and she was only able to breathe through her mouth. A three year old would not be able to commuicate that with their parents and we had no idea

After the surgery, she started sleeping through the night...now we are working on allergy shots....

Don't get discouraged!! I would recommend taking her to a specialist. It can't hurt. Find a good one that has a good reputation with children.

Thanks so much for your input after reading about your dd momov3 it sounded so much like what is going on here so I made her a dr apt for Saturday, because she is always sniffling it seems and my oldest dd had to have her tonsils and adenoids removed about 2 months ago so it is very possible that Gracie is having the same problems. I will make sure to have them check those areas first.

I will let you all know if we find something ;)
